A variety of information will be collected from you when you use EdPortal.com. Your information will be kept private unless it is specified as public information in this policy. We will never share any of your private information with any 3rd Parties unless we are required to do so for law enforcement purposes
Personal Infromation
What is collected:
On EdPortal.com, you have the option to enter personal information in your profile.
How it is used:
If you choose, some of this information can be displayed on your public webpage and on public Educational Resources that you create. The only time this information will be publicly available is if you choose to include it on a publicly available webpage or Educational Resource.
Education Institution Information
What is collected:
On EdPortal.com, you have the option to enter information about your Educational Institution in your profile.
How it is used:
If you choose, some of this information can be displayed on your public webpage and on public Educational Resources that you create. The only time this information will be publicly available is if you choose to include it on a publicly available webpage or Educational Resource.
Email Address
What is collected:
Your email address is required for access to EdPortal.com and will be requested upon Registration.
How it is used:
Your email address will be used in several ways.
- Your email address will be your user ID used to login to EdPortal.com.
- Your email address will be used for communication between EdPortal.com and you. The purpose of the communication will include, but is not limited to, Help Desk, Contact Us, Support, peer review, newsletters, updates about the website and payment notices and confirmations.
- If you choose, your email address can be displayed on your public webpage and on public Educational Resources that you create.
You can update your email and change email communcation preferences in your user profile.
Log Files
What is collected:
When you access EdPortal.com, your IP address, URL and the Date and Time of access are recorded in our webserver logs. This information may also include the web browser that you are using and various cookies that will be used to uniquely identify you to EdPortal.com.
How it is used:
Log Files are used in several ways.
- Log Files will be used to troubleshoot problems encountered on the website.
- Log Files will be analyzed to identify trends, identify usage statistics, and to improve the user experience on the website.
Educational Resources
3rdL maintains a database of high quality Educational Resources that is publicly available. This database of Educational Resources is accessable through both the EdPortal.com website and the NYLearns.org website. 3rdL may also make this Educational Resource database available to other websites in the future.
What is collected:
You have the option of creating your own Educational Resources. An Educational Resource can be, but is not limited to, an Activity, Audio/Podcast, Best Practice/Strategy, Digital Profile, Documents and Manuscripts, E-Book, E-Book Chapter, Interactive Maps, Learning Experience/Unit, Lesson Plan, Literature Connection, Teacher Resource, Tutorial, GLEF Documentaries, GLEF Interviews, Instructional Video, Web-based Lesson/WebQuest, Web-based Practice or Web-based Resource
How it is used:
When created, your Educational Resource is added to our database of Educational Resources as a private Educational Resource and it is accessible only to you. If you would like to share an Educational Resource that you create, you can add it to Peer Review. Once in Peer Review, the Educational Resource will be reviewed for approval. If approved, the Educational Resource will become public and it will be available in the public Educational Resource Database.
After an Educational Resource becomes public, you will have the ability to turn off public access by either changing the resource status to private or by deleting the resource.
Cookies
What is collected:
When you access EdPortal.com, we may send one or more cookies to your web browser to uniquely identify you to EdPortal.com. A cookie may also be used in the operation of certain tools on the EdPortal.com website. This type of cookie will only be used if the tool requires the use of a cookie in order to operate correctly.
How it is used:
The cookies used by EdPortal.com are used to uniquely identify you to EdPortal.com. If you disable cookies in your web browser, EdPortal.com tools may not work correctly.
Payment Information
What is collected:
Payment information is collected when you register for access to EdPortal.com. Payment information may include, but is not limited to, Credit Card information, Debit Card information or checking account information.
How it is used:
Payment information is used by EdPortal.com only for payment services. EdPortal.com utilizes payment gateway services through Authorize.Net. EdPortal.com does not store any of this information on our servers. The information you provide to EdPortal.com for payment is sent to Authorize.Net using a secure communication method and all data is stored on their servers. EdPortal.com receives a unique identifier from Authorize.Net that links to the information on Authorize.Net servers. This unique identifier is the only information that EdPortal.com stores. Sharing of Information
3rdL will not share any of your information with any 3rd party agencies unless otherwise specified in this document.
Information may be preserved and disclosed as necessary to satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request.
Any information included on content you create and make publicly accessable, including on your webpage or as part of an Educational Resource, will be made publicly available through EdPortal.com and the 3rdL Educational Resource Database.
We may share some aggregated, non-personal information with third parties, such as the number of users accessing a particular resource or the number of registered users utilizing EdPortal.com. This aggregated, non-personal information will not identify any individual user or disclose any private information about a user.
Deletion of Information
All information collected will remain stored in the EdPortal.com Database for a minimum of 120 days. After 120 days, EdPortal.com may continue to store this information or choose to delete applicable information, including, but not limited to, Personal Information, Education Institution Information, Email Address, and Educational Resources. Information stored in web server log files as well as aggregated, non-personal information may be kept indefinitely by EdPortal.com.
Security
3rdL makes every effort to maintain the security of your information. We maintain security measures to protect against unauthorized access to you information including the use of SSL, encryption, firewalls, data collection policy reviews, and restricted access to personal information. Employees of 3rdL Corporation may access some of your personal information on a need to know basis in order to operate and improve the EdPortal.com website.
Privacy Policy Changes
This Privacy Policy may be updated periodically as EdPortal.com adds new features and services. The effective date and version number of the privacy policy is specified at the top of this document. If you are a member of EdPortal.com, you will be notified of any major privacy policy change via email or by prominently displaying a notice of the privacy policy update on the EdPortal.com webpage.
